About Jocelyn Yao, Real estate agent/ property agent, In 2015, I took on my first building project and ever since then investment and property developments have been my passion. This is something I bring to my role of salesperson, and I also strongly believe that making personal connections with my clients is essential to securing their success. Barfoot &amp; Thompson’s values of people, family, diversity and community underpin its strength as a company. Everyone who works for the business supports each other every day to satisfy their clients with honesty and transparency. After completing a Master’s degree of Professional Business Studies and a Bachelor’s degree of Management Studies majoring in Finance and International Management, I spent a number of years in the retail and export sectors. Over this time, I greatly enhanced my communication and negotiation skills, and I learned the value of building strong working relationships with customers. People know I care. I’ve lived in East Auckland for the last 15 years and I have watched the area grow and develop. There are many different cultures represented here, which brings a colourful diversity and helps make this a vibrant and enjoyable community. Reading helps me unwind after a busy work week and I have special interest in Chinese calligraphy and interior design. Also, public speaking is a hobby of mine. I’m a member of Botany Toastmasters and I’m proud to say that in 2022, I was voted Best Speaker. ‘Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear, and the blind can see’. The world could do with more kindness and I keep this philosophy close to me at all times. As well as English I speak Mandarin and my top three strengths are passion, positivity and integrity.
